About

Oh! In my #langchat tee

I began teaching Spanish at a small high school in rural Northwest Georgia in 2010, and in 2014 moved to a larger, slightly less rural school.  I take a proficiency and CI-based approach to teaching, with lots of comprehensible input, some TPRS-style stories, I can goals, authentic audio resources, and level-appropriate readings. I want to use this blog to share lesson ideas and reflect on teaching successes & failures.

My first year blogging I taught all Spanish 1 on a traditional year-long schedule. Lately I’ve been teaching a mix of regular and honors Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 (regular) on a 4×4 block schedule. In the future I would love to pick up a Spanish 3 or AP course, or maybe even  switch to primary school. For now, I’m loving working with my high school babies. 🙂

I love to travel, dance, work out, and speak Spanish. I was born in Illinois to Yankee parents, but I’m a Georgia girl at heart.  My feedly is packed out with teaching blogs, and you can catch me on Twitter from time to time @andrearoja.

  2. Thanks for your blog. I have stumbled upon it when looking for resources. Are you still using Realidades? I am also, and I’m looking for ways to make the vocab and grammar flow better together. I teach Yr. 1 middle school.
